This is an assemblage artwork by Terry Flowers titled, "Commit Your Works to the Lord" (I'm pretty sure.) I'm going to ask Terry to comment on this post and tell us more about it.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.
The cross is made of wood and measures 19'' X 10'' x 1-1/2''. I took images from an art text book and covered the cross to add an old world feel to it. The posable mannequin is positioned liked the crucified Christ and I used a paint brush to form the face and head...
To me... this cross serves as a reminder to keep the main thing... the main thing... to honor God and his word through my art.
Two similar pieces I have done are "Redeeming the Arts" and "Never Apologize for Your Art" ... both are crosses and both address the issue of Faith and Art.
"Visions of Heaven" was the title of a group art project by Covenant Artists based on a Biblical study of Heaven, first shown at the Artisan Gallery in December of 2007. That project has passed, other projects have come and gone, but my heart for sharing has not...

The inspiration for this piece comes from...
